Gold Detector The region of Kilkis
The northernmost part of Greece belongs to the Region of Central Macedonia and borders with
the regions of Thessaloniki, Pella (Giannitsa), Serres and FYROM in the north. It has remarkable
mountains ideal for walking, climbing, mountains Paiko, Krousia and Belles and a strong water
element, with two lakes, Doiran, our natural border with FYROM and Pikrolimni, known from the
time of Alexander the Great for its medicinal properties as well as two rivers, Axios, which crosses
the area of Paeonia and the French River (the ancient Ehedoro, known in antiquity for gold nuggets).
The region Kilkis consists of Polykastro, Axioupoli, Mouries, Goumenissa, New Santa, Argyroupoli,
Kentriko, Pontoiraklia, Kampanis, Herso, Skra, Plagia, Evzoni, and inhabited since prehistoric times,
according to archaeological discoveries in several areas of the region and according to ancient
writers historians reports about the area (Omiros, Thucydidis, Stravon). These are the ancient sites
of Mygdonia, Kristonia, Vottiaia and Paionia.
Gold Detector ANCIENT TIMES
The town got its name from the Roman colony, of the first century BC, Callicum. Callicum or
Kallikos was the leather sieve which collected the gold from the river Ehedoros. Besides the river
was called “Gallikos” from the settlement Kallikos. Today the settlement Kallikoum has been
identified with Kolhida of Kilkis, where there are ruins of Roman and early Christian settlement.
Kallikoum was also a significant milestone in public Roman road crossing the area.
CURRENT ERA Long Range
On march 2002 a large area, 133.000 acres of Kroussia has been granted by the government
Simiti to the multinational giant Rio Tinto and may be granted a second region, an area of
156.000 acres. The company then decided not to require submission of “investment” because
the proposed gold-copper prices were very low and the local community expressed immediately
a negative reaction. But the spin-wait predators know the right time and the time is now that
gold is soaring and Greece in worse situation, in disadvantage.
